‘a drifting land’

Artists in residence tell another story. They bring new ways of seeing things. Contemporary artist Peter Schräder from the Netherlands tries to catch a glimpse of reality and transforms it into art.

The Sointula Art Shed has a local exhibition window gallery for artist from Malcom Island to show their art.

Every month the Sountula Artshed welcomes new artists to Malcom Island in their artist in residence program and gives them the opportunity to work on the island and make new pieces of art. The artist who do this use local influences and get involved in the local habits.

Every two weeks a new exhibition is to be seen at the window gallery from local artists and from the artist-in-residence.The gallery is situated on 2nd street and is always open.

Peter arrived in Sointula 2 weeks ago to join in the artist in residence program to do a ‘offsite’ residence. He is staying at the Sointula hostel in the woods. Besides the window gallery he will show his new work on the ferry till the end of July. This time his art is a poem, and a little poetry-clip. It is part of an artistic research on how the fog has an impact on everyday life. You can see a poetry-clip on his website. With a QR code you can see it on your Mobile phone.
